PIC hires coordinator for Veteran Women Program

Retired Army Master Sergeant Roxeanne Boosé will coordinate PIC’s new jobs program for women veterans.

Boosé formerly worked in veterans programs for Work Source and a local non-profit providing services for at-risk youth.

“It’s an honor to open doors for women veterans,” said Boosé. “This is a new era for military women. As the traditional front line of combat blurs many military women are now experiencing war-time loss, terrors, disabilities and PTSD. Coupled with the challenges of military to civilian transition, job search, locating community resources or preparing for schooling, the experience can be overwhelming. Partners in Careers, working with the community, has taken the lead in creating a program to meet these challenges head on.”

The VWP is open to all military women in Clark County. The program opened its doors this month in PIC offices at 111 West 39th Street, Suite B. The program was seeded with a Clark County Community Services Block Grant and support from PIC. Academy Women, a national non-profit founded by women graduates of United States Military Academies, is working with the VWP to coordinate eMentor, a mentorship program for women veterans in the local PIC program.

Veteran Job Club

All women veterans are invited to attend the upcoming Veteran Women Jobs Club at PIC from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning January 5. The informal weekly gathering will feature job leads and resource information for women veterans.
